Proverbs 13:22

Verse of the week:A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children…Proverbs 13:22

In my newsletter, I discussed how important it is to leave a financial inheritance for our children, but more importantlyto pass along our values, morals, traditions and memories. To often we leave the teachings of our children to the schools, church and others, when we, as parents, are their best role models.Supporting verses tell it all...

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
Fathers,do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Eph 6:4

For I have chosen him , so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him. Ge 18:19

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. Dt 4:9

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Dt 6:7

What we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. Ps 78:3-4

I think as parents we struggle daily to raise our children in the way of the Lord. However, we must still strive to do our best and must lead by example. We can't give up or slack off, for when wedo it is only a matter of time before our children(if not ourselves)have wandered in the wrong direction and away from our Lord. What are your thoughts about this verse?
